Gardens and Allergies

Picture of Union University Jackson, Tn.

I know I said I would post some recipes, but internet has not been steady and I haven't had the time yet. Right now I am sitting in the offices of American Access, where my family works. I have had a good visit so far here in Tennessee, but I am ready to go home to Virginia. I am planning what vegetables and herbs I will grow on my deck. Anyone have suggestions for small space gardening? I am planning on growing these :
Basil
Tomato
Carrot
Beets
Bush Beans

These are the only ones I could think of that could do ok in a container garden. But spring is finally here and I am love spending as much time as i can outside. Here in West Tn. they have this green pollen that goes everywhere! I found some on my computer, that was in the house. I went out the other night with a flashlight and saw what looked like snow through the light, but it was pollen! So crazy! So glad I don't get allergies, but I know others do, so this is what I did last year that got rid of my allergies within 3 days.
The secret? Raw apple cider vinegar, 1-2 tsp 3 times a day with water. People get allergies when their immune system is down, the apple cider vinegar (ACV) boosts the immune system and breaks down mucus that causes stuffy nose, coughs, and that nasty drainage.
Also pure lavender oil helps with the allergies. Garlic and cayenne contain an anti-histamine called quercetin that helps with the inflammation response system in the body.
You can also add raw honey to your ACV drink, and it will sweeten and help with allergies. Consuming raw local honey helps build your system to local pollen.

Here is some info on helping with allergies naturally, and information on Raw Apple Cider Vinegar.

Easter Weekend Sunset Pictures

This Weekend we went to Mission To Missionaries in Crossville Tn. It was beautiful there! You can visit their website Here . We had a lovely Easter weekend and had a very good hike along a creek that had several waterfalls.

Kidney Stones

Well i have had the experience of having kidney stones. Talk about very painful!! I believe i got them from having a UTI (Urinary Tract Infection). So after lots of water and lemon juice they passed.

On another note i have a friend who is doing ministry and if you could donate some $ i know she could use it to go on a mission trip. Here is her blog http://angelinakerns.blogspot.com/ Check it out!

Midnight...BBQ?

So tonight i was getting some fresh made gluten free brownies in zip locks to take with us this weekend. But while doing that i accidentally knocked over my liquid smoke that i use in stews, chili's  and such. Well i guess the lid wasn't on as tight as i thought and half of it spilled on the floor. It instantly smelled like the 4th of July with about 30 BBQ's at once. My husband had the bright idea of covering up the smell, after i cleaned it up, with peppermint oil. "Yeah that's a great idea!" So i poured some peppermint oil on the floor, hoping it would smell like peppermint instead of BBQ. But instead it smells like barbecued peppermint. Very odd smelling. And i spilled some on my foot. And after being sick for a week, today was my first day i could smell stuff. Whew, does it smell strong. Next time, i will clear everything from within arms length of me before i put brownies away, that way it doesn't smell like a BBQ at midnight again.

Long time no post...

I know it's been over a week since i posted last. In that time we have traveled from North Carolina to California and back. As soon as we got back i came down with some sort of sickness. Just on the mend now. Thanks to gross airport food, which i didn't have much choice but to eat since we spent 2 days in the airport. I also leave Friday to go to Tennessee to be with family for around 10 days or more. Maybe my mom and i can post a few raw recipes with a few pictures. I can't wait to get back and start juicing again! I also lost my job at the health food store, so i am no searching for another one. A lot of stuff going on right now! I did make some Gluten free lemon poppyseed muffins though!

Quick Gluten Free Lemon Poppy Seed Muffins

Carrot Juice You Can't Beet

Carrot Beet Juice
3 Carrots
1/2 Beet with Greens
3-5 Celery sticks
1 Apple

Juice and enjoy!

Well i will be ending my juice fast this week. I need time to adjust to eating solid food from not eating all week. So Wednesday i'll be eating for the first time in a little over a week. I'm feeling great, more energy, and lost some weight. But i do look forward to eating solid food again. I got a new juicer on Friday. I got the Breville Juice fountain plus. It works way better than my old one! Way more juice from it too. Well that's my little update for today! Happy Juicing!
